Here is what I was told.  In the early 1900's, a lady (name now unknown) wanted a Tiffany lamp but had to save for it.  When she got enough she bought the shades with the intent of then saving for the base.  She never saved enough so these shades have never been installed.  A Houston area dealer named Roger Howard bought the shades directly from this lady about 40 years ago and I bought them from Roger about 20 years ago.  All of us have this in common.  We have been unsuccessful in finding a base.  I am sure you will have better luck.
